megan and jason - vibiana, downtown los angeles

megan and jason were married last year at one of my favorite venues in southern california - VIBIANA...it is an old catholic cathedral that has been renovated into an event space and let me tell you...it is INSANELY beautiful!!!

because megan and jason both work for classic party rentals, i knew their aesthetic and design was gonna be ridiculous...we worked with a color scheme of white, espresso, chartreuse and steely aqua...wood elements, white couches, mirrored tables, cameos, beaded trim, crystal chandeliers and baby's breath (yes baby's breath!!) gave it a unique feeling of "urban antiquity"...

megan's bouquet was made up of white gardenias, cream garden roses, white japhette orchids, white peonies and white ranunculas...we wrapped it in white lace with a dirty bronze and pearl cameo layered on top...

an exterior view of the venue, vibiana...

the light inside is a photographer's dream, i'm sure...

this shot was captured when megan was outside the venue and she saw her grandparents pull up...without hesitation, she whipped up her dress and started running down the street to greet them...it was such a sweet moment!!

each of the girls wore a uniquely designed dress and carried a uniquely designed bouquet - one girl held white mini calas, one held white peonies, one held white ranunculas, etc. basically each girl carried one type of flower and megan's bouquet was made up of a mixture of all of those...

i loved these chartreuse peep toe heels!

the ceremony was designed entirely around these pieces...a dark brown wood candlestick was topped with a huge "poof" of all baby's breath - super chic, airy and ethereal!! who said baby's breath is just for grocery stores?!? it just goes to show, every flower can look amazing if done right (and even the most amazing flowers can look cheap if done wrong)...

the altar area is stunning...simply stunning...

the dark wood floors in vibiana are brand new and beautiful so we decided to keep the aisle simple by lining each side with 5 of the "poofs" and a thick trail of white and cream rose petals...

again, SUCH a dreamy ceremony...

cocktail hour took place in the lush courtyard with views of the highrise buildings in downtown LA...these chandeliers added a touch of glamour and they also have a funny backstory - they were designed for "bennifer's" wedding but never got used since the nuptials were called off! so megan and jason put them to good use after all :)

i mean, who DOESN'T love a good mirrored table?!?!? so old hollywood...

dark wood chairs, coffee tables and bars tied in the wood floors and wood candlesticks really nicely...it added that touch of antiquity to keep it from looking too modern and sleek...

cameos, steely aqua ribbon and chocolate beaded trim were added to fabric wrapped boxes packed full of white hydrangea, cream roses, white tulips and ranunculas...

during the cocktail hour the church was flipped and became the dinner reception...a mixture of square, round and rectangular tables were used to add visual interest...

half the tables were topped with the baby's breath "poofs" from the ceremony...

we accented the base of those pieces with glass squares wrapped in chocolate lace and filled with all cream roses or white hydrangea...

the other half of the tables held a low fabric wrapped box, accented by cameos, steely aqua ribbon and chocolate beaded trim and packed full of white hydrangea, cream roses, white tulips and ranunculas...

megan handmade these menu cards herself!! she painted sheets of balsa wood with a dark brown stain and overlaid them with the same yellow/chartreuse fabric that her table linens were made out of! she did a fab job!!

these adorable ruffled rosettes were attached to the backs of the bride and groom's chairs...

vanilla bakeshop constructed the lovely cupcake tower...again the fabric used matched all the table linens...ahhhh, the perks of working for a rental company!

it was a fabulous fete and one that i am honored to have been a part of!

the night was made complete by:
courtney toney - joyful weddings and events (you and darci were amazing!! thank you!!)
classic party rentals (i was a kid in a candy store...the rentals were a dream)
ryan phillips photography (SO many stunning shots!)
vanilla bakeshop (i ate about 10 mini cupcakes during the strike...no joke)

thank you megan and jason for allowing me to be a part of this day!! i hope you are loving new york and loving the newlywed life! xoxo

So simple and elegant. I love it. And the yellow just makes me smile (as always). Those poofs are making a great name for baby's breath. Beautiful work for a beautiful couple.

That baby's breath is AMAZING. How many bunches did it take to make each poof?

Hi, lovely wedding! Where did you get the candlestick/tall containers for the "poofs"? I am in the LA area and have been looking for those for a wedding coming up in May 12. Thanks so much!!

I know this was a while ago, but any chance you know who did hair/makeup for the bride? It's exactly what I want. Thanks!
