a "campground wedding" photo shoot

this photo shoot was designed by the amazingly talented jesi haack for something called the "inspired creations contest", which was put on by two lovely wedding blogs (elizabeth anne designs and the sweetest occasion)...jesi had always dreamed of doing a camping inspired bridal shoot, so she enlisted us vendors to hop on board with her playful, natural, outdoorsy ideas and run with them!

for the bridal bouquet i wanted to do something unlike anything i have seen before...something rustic but tailored and with a lot of texture...so i mixed poppy pods, scabiosa pods and brunia and then collared them completely with soft, mint green lamb's ear...

the table was actually made by jesi's husband - amazing right? they found distressed, colorful wood in a dumpster and made it into a tabletop! jesi added blue speckled camping dishware for an authentic feel, along with bamboo chairs...this kept it somewhat casual but it still looked like it could be a wedding :)

i used vases covered in birch or bark and filled them with balsa wood flowers, dried fungi caps, poppy pods, scabiosa pods, brunia and other funky greens that i don't even know the name of!

little craft paper boxes packed with all the fixins to make your own s'mores and adorable hand-sewn labels accented with red flannel fabric (done by paper and thread)...

paper and thread also carried the camping theme into the invitations by incorporating a trail map...and of course, in true paper and thread fashion, the invite had stitching all over it! so, so cute!

the groom and groomsman wore flannel shirts, tucked into jeans and finished with a bowtie...after all, it is still a wedding! jesi wanted them to look somewhat cleaned up :)

the bride wore a dress from mary me bridal and some super cute ankle boots, along with bright, chunky jewelry...

the bridemaid's bouquet was made up of all scabiosa pods and a collar of fuzzy, mint-green lamb's ear...

i love that jesi dressed the bridesmaid in a silk jumper and ankle boots! laid-back but still feminine and dare i say it - sexy...

even the bride's hair fascinator had flannel!

maybe the guys would do a little pre-wedding fishing or hiking?

okay this menu card was probably one of my favorite things of the day! it was sewn to look like a little pulled back sleeping bag!!! how stinking rad is that?!?! i also loved that jesi brought in blue plastic sporks :)

table names were made of wood circles (jesi labeled ours "half dome" but maybe they could all be named after national parks? or famous mountains? or different types of camping gear? sky's the limit!)...

okay...i take no credit for this genius move...rather than a cake table, jesi wanted to put the cake on a grill!!! so unique! i loved it :)

melody from sweet and saucy added balsa wood flowers to her chocolate fondant cake...i love seeing cakes that are done in something other than cream or white...they always jump out at me because you rarely see them done in color...and this one looked so rich and decadent!

little head lamps were hung from some mini christmas pine trees in case guests needed help getting back to their cars in the dark...

thank you to all of the amazing vendors that helped make this shoot so special!

Carissa,
Your florals were unlike anything I've ever seen, and in the most amazing way. Thank you for all of your sweet comments about the paper goods. This was the cutest photo shoot and so much fun to create.

Oh I adore this! Everything is just so wonderful! I grew up in MN in the country and it seems like my kind of wedding! The different elements would also be perfect to incorporate for just a backyard party or BBQ as well. Thanks so much for sharing!

I just posted about it here...

I absolutely love this shoot! I am a wedding coordinator who is currently planning a wedding with a slight camping feel. My bride and groom love those blue speckled plates - would you be able to tell me where they are from?
